Tuesday Tips with Jennie Finch: Mental Toughness

As I say all the time in lessons, softball is a game of failure. It is inevitable that you are going to fail, you are going to throw balls, you are going to walk people, you are going to get hit. When we can accept that failure is part of the game that is when you have conquered the mental challenges that come with art of pitching. Just like Jennie says in this video, "You have to first believe in yourself, trust your ability, trust your hard work, and then go out there and execute." I challenge each of my students to always focus on the positives, and never dwell on the failures in this game. The girls I teach who understand this mindset are the ones who succeed on the mound.
