Erma Bergmann, professional woman baseball player dies at 91

Today Erma “Bergie” Bergmann, pitcher for the St. Louis women's professional baseball league in the 1940s sadly passed away. She  pitched a no-hitter in 1947 in the women’s professional baseball league. She later served on the St. Louis Police Department’s decoy squad, and once shot a street-robbery suspect with her snub-nosed revolver! She was also proficient in mixed martial arts!

Erma was quite the accomplished woman! She was one of the first women in this area that proved baseball was not just for the boys!

For her 90th birthday in June 2014, she threw out the first pitch at a Cardinals’ game in Busch Stadium.
