What pitcher are you?

My former pitching instructor, Jim Greiner recently posted the following on his Facebook page and I thought it would be great to share.

Two 13 yr olds pitching along side one another....

Pitcher #1 asks her parents to let her practice regularly. She does her drills at home. She's working on new pitches and advanced power drills. She has a great attitude and work ethic that flows into her academics and all her other interests leading to success in everything.

Pitcher #2 is asked by her parents to please practice what she is being taught in the lessons that they are paying for. She'd rather text on her phone or go to the mall to "hang out". Her instructor still has her working on basic mechanics and basic drills. She wonders why the other girl is moving ahead and blames it on her instructor or her parents.

Which pitcher are you????

It is important to remember that I am not a miracle worker... you cannot just show up to lessons once a week for 30 minutes and miraculously become one of the best pitchers in the area. It takes serious work ethic, repetition and reinforcement of mechanics to be the best. You should all strive to be like Pitcher #1!
